The Indianapolis Colts are adding reinforcements on defense ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Indianapolis has elevated cornerback Jonathan Edwards and defensive end Carl Lawson from its practice squad, giving the team additional options for Sunday's divisional contest.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported both roster elevations on X. The moves provide depth at two defensive positions as Indianapolis prepares for an important AFC South matchup.

Edwards is familiar with the Colts' defensive system after spending his rookie season with the organization. The 2025 undrafted free agent did appear in 14 games, including five starts, recording 24 tackles and three passes defended.

Indianapolis brought Edwards back to its practice squad in September after previously waiving him. His latest elevation gives the coaching staff another option in the secondary.

Lawson, meanwhile, brings significantly more NFL experience to the defensive front. The veteran pass rusher joined Indianapolis' practice squad on October 7 after previous stops with the Bengals, Jets, Cowboys, and Ravens.

Across 90 career games, Lawson has registered 32 sacks and four forced fumbles. His experience could help the Colts generate pressure against Jacksonville's offense.

The roster adjustments come amid the changes to Indianapolis' defense. The Colts recently placed cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt on injured reserve and traded veteran defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco.

Edwards and Lawson now have opportunities to contribute as Indianapolis navigates those personnel changes.

The Colts will face the Jaguars on Sunday, November 1, at 1 p.m. ET. Their latest elevations give Indianapolis more flexibility on defense heading into the divisional showdown.
