The Indianapolis Colts are 2-6 on the season after their 42-7 defeat at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars that led to a Josh Downs no-show in the locker room. Colts RB Jonathan Taylor had a rough day at the office then sent a stern message after the game, on a day when Anthony Richardson replaced Daniel Jones at QB.
Coach Shane Steichen said he's going to evaluate who will be the starting quarterback going forward which led to comments from Richardson in the Colts locker room, shared by James Boyd of The Athletic.
“I can't really focus too much on it, just gotta keep doin' what I been doin', prepare to be the starter, regardless, regardless of what decisions he makes, I just gotta make sure I'm prepared when my number's called.”

It wasn't a banner day for the number four overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, but it showed he can contribute when called upon and it came after Jones was mostly ineffective in a losing effort.
Calls amplified for Richardson to be the starter going forward after the game, with the Colts pondering a potential fire sale at the upcoming NFL Trade Deadline. Richardson's career could still take off, but if it's going to happen, he will need to continue to do exactly what he said and make sure he's ready when the time comes, because opportunities to start at QB in the National Football League don't come often.
