Delaware State head coach DeSean Jackson made headlines by revealing his work schedule with the Hornets. Jackson appeared on Da Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson and shared an interesting schedule for when he's in the office.
“I get in at 6:30 [a.m.], and I leave at 2 [p.m.],” he said. “I tell my coaches, just because you're there all day doesn't mean nothing. You can still get out-schemed, you can still get out-worked. I'm not one of those coaches who says, ‘We've got to be there at eight in the morning or six in the morning to 10 at night. Get in, get your work done, and when you're done, get up out of there, man. I don't really believe in all that, bro. You can get your work done and get home to your family, because I'm not going to be there all day.”
The comments drew the attention of Richmond head coach Russ Huesman, who didn't like the approach.

Despite Russ Huesman's comments, you could argue DeSean Jackson hasn't been successful in his first two seasons with the Hornets. Jackson led the Hornets to an 8-4 season in 2025, after the Hornets only won one game in 2024. Delaware State was one game away from making the Celebration Bowl and winning the MEAC championship, but ultimately lost to eventual MEAC and Celebration Bowl champions South Carolina State 28-17 at the end of last season.
Meanwhile, Delaware State has been successful this season, pulling off a huge victory over Stony Brook and nearly pulling off a come-from-behind win over William & Mary after losing to the University of South Florida on Saturday. They sit at 2-2 as they host Towson this Saturday.
