Darian Mensah put together another near-perfect performance Friday night, and former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel could hardly believe what he was watching.

The No. 5 Miami Hurricanes defeated Wake Forest 33-20 as quarterback Mensah continued his outstanding start to the season. Mensah was flawless early on, finishing the first half with a perfect 20 completions on 20 attempts.

He extended that streak into the second half to complete his first 24 passes of the game, ultimately shattering the ACC single-game completion record.

“How in the world does Darian Mensah complete 20/20 passes in the first half….” Daniel posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Dude has a 94% completion percentage this year 👀”

Mensah eventually threw his first incompletion, but not before setting ACC records for consecutive completions in a game and consecutive completions to start a game. He finished the night with 213 passing yards and three touchdowns.

The junior transfer has been almost impossible to disrupt through Miami’s undefeated start. Mensah has now thrown for 873 yards and 11 touchdowns without an interception while completing 89.8% of his passes on the season.

His efficiency has also given Miami’s offense an added consistency. Mensah has avoided costly mistakes while consistently finding open receivers and keeping the Hurricanes ahead of schedule.

The start has quickly put Mensah into the national conversation. His numbers have drawn comparisons with quarterbacks who have produced similar completion streaks against FBS opponents, while his play has strengthened Miami’s case as a team to watch nationally.

Additionally, Mensah’s efficiency has become one of the biggest stories of Miami’s unbeaten start, and the quarterback has plenty of time left to build on it.
