The Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers came into the 2026 season with very high expectations, with both setting their sights on the playoffs. Both bowed out of the postseason a year ago against the New England Patriots, but both made changes this offseason that built a lot of hope coming into the year.
Now, that hope is starting to run low after three weeks. Both the Texans and Chargers dropped to 0-3 on the season by losing very winnable games in Week 3.
The Chargers fell to the Buffalo Bills 24-16 despite having a 10-0 lead and forcing five turnovers. A critical Justin Herbert interception in the red zone hurt the Chargers, as did a number of drops and penalties.
The Texans came back to take a 17-16 lead against the Indianapolis Colts before giving up a game-winning field goal in a 19-17 loss. Now, Houston is two games back of a red-hot Jacksonville Jaguars team in the AFC South and has a long way to go to get back into playoff position.
