The Minnesota Vikings are looking to get back in the win column in Week 9. Minnesota suffered their first loss of the season in Week 8 and now faces another elite team in Buffalo. To make matters worse, the Vikings will be forced to start Carson Wentz against the Bills on Sunday.
Wentz explained his perspective on one key problem surrounding the offense during a recent interview. He has a plan for getting Justin Jefferson more involved in the passing game.
“I mean, just get him the rock. He's as good as I've been around. So, you know, for him the last couple of weeks not getting it as much as he would maybe want, I get it. I'd be frustrated if I were him,” Wentz told reporters on Thursday, per Ari Meirov. “I mean, he's as good as it gets at his position and I look forward to just, I want to get him the rock as much as anybody. I look forward to trying to do that without forcing it. We've got a bunch of talent on the offensive side of the ball, so my job is just to distribute it and I'm confident he'll get his this week.”
Kyler Murray is dealing with a sore hamstring, which is why Wentz will get the start.
Jefferson and Murray have not created a very strong chemistry between the two. The superstar receiver only has 28 receptions for 335 yards and four touchdowns in six games this season. He has yet to go over 100 yards in a game and has only received 40 targets thus far.
It is great to hear that Wentz will prioritize getting Jefferson involved. Jefferson stiffed the media last week and seemed frustrated with Murray's performance in their loss to Detroit. Hopefully Wentz brings some stability to the offense and can unlock Jefferson's full potential.
Vikings vs. Bills kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Nov 9 from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
