Alex Ovechkin has already announced that the 2026-27 season will be his last year in the National Hockey League. As the season plays out, the NHL's all-time leading goal scorer will undoubtedly receive a number of tributes and gifts as he makes his way from city to city with the Washington Capitals.

The Capitals are meeting the Nashville Predators Thursday night, and prior to the game, Nashville defenseman Roman Josi and Predators advisor Barry Trotz presented Ovechkin with a custom black Gibson guitar that the superstar can take with him into retirement.

It comes complete with an inscription on the pick guard which reads “Alex Ovechkin No. 8.” and has Predators and Capitals team logos.

The gift was presented to Ovechkin in the locker room prior to the start of the game. Trotz was the long-time coach of the Predators and he also served as the head coach of the Capitals for four seasons. That included the 2017-18 season, the year that the Capitals and Ovechkin won their only Stanley Cup.

He has scored just 1 goal and 3 assists to this point in the season and he is averaging just 13:47 of ice time per game.

Ovechkin has scored 930 goals and 1,691 points in his 22-year career with the Capitals. He is the NHL's all-time leader in power play goals with 331 and he has also notched 141 game-winning goals.
