Ohio State football wide receiver Jeremiah Smith needed three seasons to rewrite the program record books. Smith enters Saturday amid growing Heisman Trophy hype. And he's got a “GOAT' debate attached to him too thanks to LeSean McCoy.
“Shady” McCoy didn't hesitate to hand the Buckeyes star the stirring title during an appearance via Bleacher Report.
“This is the greatest receiver I’ve ever laid eyes on,” McCoy said with no hesitation. “Man. He is the greatest wide receiver I’ve ever seen.”
McCoy continued to double down on his take involving the junior wideout.
“Argue with your mama,” McCoy said. “Speed, size, hands. (Greatest) I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot of them.”
McCoy indeed played with some iconic wideouts. He teamed with DeSean Jackson with the Philadelphia Eagles, then Tyreek Hill while with the Kansas City Chiefs. Both have delivered Pro Football Hall of Fame numbers, and McCoy won the 2019 Super Bowl with the latter wideout.

Smith showed right out of the gate how he was beyond built for college football with delivering the most dominating true freshman debut ever out of a wideout. Smith caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and scored 15 touchdowns that season, which ended with OSU claiming the national title.
The now junior is garnering Heisman and NFL Draft attention by averaging a new career-high 18.7 yards per catch. He's also four touchdown receptions away from hitting 40 for his already illustrious career.
