As the Texas Tech football program beat the Colorado Buffaloes on Oct. 3, 29-7, the team would experience a key injury to running back Cameron Dickey. While Texas Tech football fans had been waiting for injury updates on Dickey, the latest one gives a timeline on when he could return.

Suffering from a high ankle sprain in the aforementioned win over the Buffaloes, college football insider Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Dickey will “miss the next two games.” The earliest he could return is for the Oct. 31 contest against the Arizona Wildcats.

“Texas Tech RB Cameron Dickey is still recovering from a high ankle sprain and will miss the next two games, but could return by the end of the month against Arizona,” Nakos wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Dickey would leave for the Texas Tech football team in the second quarter of the win over Colorado, as so far in the season, he had been the second-leading rusher for the Red Raiders behind J'Koby Williams. Dickey has recorded 242 yards on 57 carries with four touchdowns, while Williams has 373 yards on 63 carries, as the high ankle sprain diagnosis was made by head coach Joey McGuire after the game.

“Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire said Cam Dickey’s x-rays came back negative and is most likely a high ankle sprain,” Whitman posted on X, formerly Twitter.

There was a sense of relief from the Red Raiders and the fanbase, as the result of the injury was that it's not season-ending, as Nakos reported the Monday following the game.

“Texas Tech RB Cameron Dickey sustained a high ankle sprain Saturday at Colorado, sources tell [On3 Sports],” Nakos wrote on Oct. 5. “A timetable for a return is unclear, but it is not season-ending.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen when Dickey will come back for the program and if it'll be on Oct. 31 against Arizona, but No. 10 Texas Tech will look to keep the ship afloat on Saturday as the team takes on Arizona State.
