The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently gearing up for their upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers at home. The Buccaneers come into this game at 0-3 after dropping last week's game to the Minnesota Vikings and will also be playing without quarterback Baker Mayfield, who left that game due to injury.
Recently, Jalon Daniels, who took over for Mayfield down the stretch of that one and will be getting the start on Sunday, revealed his mindset ahead of his first career NFL start.
“You can’t be a thermometer. You have to be the thermostat,” he said, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.
It's certainly some helpful words to live by for the young quarterback as he looks to set the tone on Sunday as opposed to merely reacting to it.
The Buccaneers' offense was largely shut down by the Vikings throughout the afternoon on Sunday en route to the loss to Minnesota, with Mayfield struggling to put up much of any momentum before going down with an injury.
Daniels signed with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent this past offseason after playing his college football at Kansas, where he became a standout player in the Big-12. He will have a chance on Sunday to face off against a Packers defense that let the Atlanta Falcons eviscerate them the last time they took the field last Thursday.
In any case, the Buccaneers and Packers are slated to kick things off on Sunday at 1:00 pm ET.
