While Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken partially blamed the weather in the loss to the Jets, the team also dealt with an injury to a key defensive player. And there are quarterback issues as well. But Monken put a positive spin on a noticeable issue for Deshaun Watson, according to a post on X by Camryn Justice.

“#Browns HC Todd Monken on whether Deshaun Watson is holding onto the ball too long at times: ‘I think that's always the case. That's not a Deshaun issue. That's an athletic quarterback issue, and trying to make plays. They're so used to being able to escape and make plays. And you do see it. You see it weekly. So that, that is the hardest part.

“You've got to get the ball out. You've got to mitigate the loss because for every big play that you make, it can't be offset with a sack because one's a drive extender and one's a drive killer. It's not all him. There's a piece of it that I have to own, and our offensive staff has to own, and there's a piece that all of our players have to own. That's part of the pie.”

The Browns suffered a tough 17-12 loss to the Jets on Sunday. They fell to 3-2 on the season. And they are tied for second place in the AFC North with the Steelers and Bengals.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson struggling at times

In the Jets’ game, Watson went 15 of 33 for 155 yards with a touchdown and no picks. The completion percentage and yardage painted a pretty ugly picture. But Monken said the weather hurt, according to ESPN.

“The ball was wet the whole game,” Monken said. “Is that a part of it? Probably.”

Watson said the team needs to look forward after not making the plays in the final minutes, according to a post on X by Camryn Justice.

“#Browns QB Deshaun Watson on the final drive with 1:41 to play and a chance to beat the Jets: ‘There was still hope. There were still opportunities, and again, they capitalized on it better than us. We had a penalty and sack and some missed opportunities, but that happens. And again, get on the bus, get on this flight, watch the tape, see what we could have did better.”
