At 42 years old, Aaron Rodgers is the oldest quarterback in the NFL, but in the opinion of Cleveland Browns edge rusher Jared Verse, he certainly doesn't play like it.

Discussing what he's seen from the future Hall of Famer on Tuesday before the Browns welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to Huntington Bank Field, Verse compared Rodgers to a “wizard,” as he can simply do things that aren't normal for any quarterback, regardless of their age.

“He's a, he's a, he's a wizard. He can throw, he can do all these throws that, you know, those elite quarterbacks can do. You know, his legs might not be what, you know, they were at the one point, but his arm is, I'd argue with you, even better than it's ever been. You know, he's dotting everything up. He's hitting the tight windows, you know, he's throwing deep, he's able to handle it,” Verse said.

“If you let him sit back there and be the quarterback that he is, he's going to dice you up all day. He can't let that frustrate you. You know, if he's having a release time of one, two, one, three, one, two, one, one, one, you know, a couple of them were at like one, five, like that, that's, you know, who he is as a player. So when you get those kinds of releases, you can't let it frustrate you as a D-line. You just got to keep rushing. At one point, he's going to hold that for two, three seconds, and that's when you got to take advantage of it.”

While Verse's respect for Rodgers is understandable, considering his pedigree, in 2026, he's actually putting up some of the worst numbers of his career, averaging just 233.3 yards per game with a 58.4 completion percentage to go with four touchdowns, two interceptions, and eight sacks. Considering the 2-1 Browns already have seven sacks on the season and are holding opposing teams to just 224 passing yards per game, that presents a clear path to success in Week 4.

"If he's having release time of 1.2, 1.3, 1.2, 1.1, couple of them were at 1.5, that's who he is as a player. So when you get those kind of releases, you can't let it frustrate you as a D-line. You just got to keep rushing." pic.twitter.com/1ye5BWmNbK
