CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Denver Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle left Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers with a concussion and cornerback Riley Moss sustained a concussion just minutes later.
The Broncos had gone into the game without either of their starting safeties as Brandon Jones (hamstring) and Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) were both game-day inactives.
Second-year cornerback Jahdae Barron played in Moss' spot. Moss was injured as he made a tackle on Trevor Etienne in the second quarter.
Waddle, who had one catch Sunday for 22 yards, left the game with just seconds to go in the first quarter. Waddle reached to make a catch in front of Panthers cornerback Marco Wilson and was then hit by Zakee Wheatley, who knocked the ball free.
Waddle, who has battled ankle and chest injuries already this season, jumped up after the play and walked back toward the Broncos huddle but then left the field and did not return. Waddle has 30 receptions for 337 yards and two touchdowns this season.
The Broncos (6-2) entered the day with a slim lead in the AFC West race over the Kansas City Chiefs.
