The Denver Broncos are set to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Running back RJ Harvey was already ruled out, and now the Broncos are placing him on the injured reserve, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“The #Broncos are placing emerging RB R.J. Harvey on short-term IR as he recovers from the knee injury he suffered in practice this week, source says. Harvey will miss the next four games and is eligible to return as soon as the #Broncos game vs the #Dolphins on Dec. 6,” Rapoport reported on X, formerly Twitter.
It remains to be seen when Harvey will return. As Rapoport mentioned, he will be eligible to return in early December.
Both the Broncos and Chiefs are dealing with injury concerns, but Harvey landing on the IR deals Denver's running game a blow for weeks to come.
Harvey, who is in his second NFL season, has rushed for 87 yards on 24 attempts this season. He's scored one touchdown on the ground as well. Harvey has also made an impact in the passing game, recording 217 yards, 25 receptions and one touchdown.
With JK Dobbins leading the running game, Jonah Coleman and Cody Schrader are candidates to receive increases in playing time amid Harvey's injury absence.
