After North Carolina A&T picked up the resounding homecoming victory over Elon during their centennial homecoming celebration, a brawl ensued shortly after North Carolina A&T secured their third straight victory. Elon players went onto the Aggie sideline to confront a North Carolina A&T player. A brawl then broke out before members of both coaching staffs broke it up.
The commentators on the broadcast clarified that North Carolina A&T did not start the melee and that Elon players went to North Carolina A&T's sidelines.
“And now we have some extracurricular activities, and this is an unfortunate end to today's game,” one commentator said as the scuffle broke out.
His broadcast partner made clear who was responsible. “It wasn't caused by A&T. Elon's players sought out an Aggie player,” the second commentator said.
The first commentator added that the Elon players had crossed the field to do it. “Elon's players came all the way over to A&T's bench, and this is not what either coaching staff wants in this situation,” he said.
North Carolina A&T head coach Shawn Gibbs said he did not like what he saw when asked about the scuffle, according to the Greensboro News & Record.
“I didn't like it,” Gibbs said. “I don't know what really happened, so I don't want to speculate too much, but I know that their players ran on our sideline. You can't do that. That was an ugly ending to our moment, and that's what really made me mad.”

While White threw for 98 yards, one touchdown and one interception, he had 14 carries for 95 yards, including a 39-yard run. J.T. Smith and Shimique Blizzard also contributed. Smith rushed for 49 yards, and Blizzard for 26.
Elon scored its first touchdown in the third quarter, courtesy of Kamerin McDowell-Moore, their standout running back. But White found Jayvone Dillard for an 8-yard touchdown pass to tie the game early in the third quarter.
With 2 minutes and 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Asher Holland kicked what resulted in the game-winning field goal, and North Carolina A&T emerged from this centennial homecoming victorious.
