Up 2-0 in their NL Division Series (NLDS) matchup against the San Diego Padres, the Milwaukee Brewers are on the precipice of another NL Championship Series (NLCS) berth. A Game 3 win over the Padres Tuesday night would give the Brewers home field advantage against the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers- Atlanta Braves NLDS tilt. On Tuesday, Milwaukee catcher William Contreras appeared on a podcast with former Braves teammate Ronald Acuna Jr. Contreras told his agent to not speak to him for three weeks once the news broke he was heading to Milwaukee, shared by X (formerly Twitter) user Master Flip.

William Contreras stopped talking to his agent for 3 weeks after the Braves traded him to Milwaukee 😳

Acuña: “Did it hurt when you were traded?”

Contreras: “Of course, bro. I got over it, but when I got here to Milwaukee in 2024, the vibe wasn’t the same, and I was like, damn.… pic.twitter.com/HAv3ZgXINh

“December 15th, traded to Milwaukee, and it hit,” Contreras stated to his former teammate. “I stopped talking to my agent. I told him, don’t text me for 3 weeks; I don’t want to talk to you. He tells me no, that it’s business, and I said that’s not business at all. I kept telling him, send me back to Atlanta. I just thought about the guys there because it was a vibe.”

The NL's top seed, there's a good chance that the Brewers could host the Braves in the NLCS. A win on the road Tuesday night would give the Brew Crew some rest before facing off against either prospective opponent. Last year, the D0dgers dispatched the Brewers in a clean sweep. A match against the Braves would likely favor Milwaukee, who is looking to get back to the World Series for the first time since 1982.

In any case, it looks like Contreras is right at home with the Brewers. He's become a multiple time All-Star and one of baseball's best all-around catchers. Despite a breakout 2022 campaign, the Braves elected to trade for Athletics All-Star Sean Murphy, sending Contreras up north a few days later. Murphy has declined in Atlanta, mostly due to injuries. 2025 NL Rookie of the Year Drake Baldwin has replaced him. Can Contreras lead the Brew Crew back to the Fall Classic? If so, the trade will have paid off quite well in Milwaukee.
