It was a tough Game 4 loss for the Milwaukee Brewers against the Tampa Bay Rays, but credit where credit is due. The Brewers manager Pat Murphy gave credit to the Rays for fighting back after their 4-3, 12-inning victory in the World Series on Tuesday.

Despite the painful defeat, Murphy acknowledged Tampa Bay's resilience and reminded his own team to prepare for another opportunity to clinch the championship.

“We’re facing a club that has faced a lot of adversity this series, but give them credit, they bounced back well tonight,” Murphy said after the game.

The Rays avoided elimination by rallying in the bottom of the 12th inning, ending Milwaukee's eight-game winning streak and preventing a four-game sweep. The Brewers still hold a 3-1 series lead and need one more victory to secure the first World Series title in franchise history.

Milwaukee was set to finish the job when rookie Cooper Pratt hit a home run in the top of the 12th to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead.

However, a fielding error by third baseman Joey Ortiz opened the door for Tampa Bay.

Jonny DeLuca and pinch-hitter Ben Williamson followed with singles that brought home two runs and ended the game. Reliever Shane Drohan struggled to close out the contest, allowing hits to all four batters he faced after Milwaukee had used several other bullpen arms.

Additionally, Murphy refused to dwell on the setback, emphasizing that adversity comes with the challenge of winning a championship.

“When you’re achieving something like this, it’s going to have its adversity,” Murphy said. “We had some things go our way yesterday; they had some things go their way today. That’s what it is. You live with it.”
