The Tampa Bay Rays stayed alive in the World Series after pulling off a come-from-behind win against the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3, in Game 4 at Tropicana Field on Tuesday.

The Rays needed 12 innings to prevent a sweep, with Ben Williamson delivering the game-winning hit with the bases loaded. His walk-off single drove in Nick Fortes.

After the game, Williamson touted their resiliency and togetherness, stressing that they dug deep and kept fighting.

Nick Martinez offered a similar message when asked about their nail-biting victory.

“Gritty. Gritty. We're dangerous. We have our backs against the wall, (but) we know what we have to do. We can win four in a row. This team is capable of doing that,” said Martinez, as quoted by MLB.TV's Ryan Bass.

History is not on the Rays' side, as no team has clawed back from a 3-0 deficit in the World Series. The Boston Red Sox are the only team to have overcome a 3-0 hole in a seven-game series in league history, doing it against the New York Yankees in the ALCS in 2004.

Martinez, who started in Game 1, came out of the bullpen to relieve Tyler Wells. In 33 pitches in two innings, Martinez gave up one hit and had one strikeout.

Manager Kevin Cash tipped his hat to the one-time All-Star.

“I can't say enough about Nick Martinez and the contributions he's made all season long. Then coming in on short rest and giving us two really solid innings,” said Cash, as quoted by CBS Sports' Matt Snyder.

As of this writing, the Rays have not named their starter in Game 5 on Wednesday.
