Walt Weiss has been around the Atlanta Braves organization for much of his baseball career. He was a player with the team from 1998 through 2000. Weiss returned to the Braves as the bench coach in November 2017 and was with the team when they won the World Series. After Brian Snitker retired following the 2025 season, Weiss was named the manager. The Braves won the NL East in his first season, but were eliminated in the NLDS. The Braves have already made a front office change, hiring former Astros general manager Dana Brown as a senior adviser with amateur scouting.
Now, the Braves and Weiss have made a decision on the coaching staff, according to Jesus Cano of The Athletic.
“The Atlanta Braves will retain their entire coaching staff for the upcoming season, a team source familiar with the decision told The Athletic on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters,” Cano wrote.

The Braves finished 2026 with the eighth-most runs scored, but had the third-worst walk rate in the majors and 20th in weighted runs created. Still, there was enough progress with the bats to bring him back. Meanwhile, Tony Mansolino returns as the bench coach, while Jeremy Hefner is back as the pitching coach. Hyers will also have his assistant, Darnell Coles, back this year.
Antoan Richardson, the first base coach, and Tommy Watkins, the third base coach, were both new additions to the staff in 2026, and will also be back in 2026.
