The likelihood of Atlanta Braves ace Chris Sale starting Game 2 of the National League Division Series versus the Los Angeles Dodgers seemed high midway through Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series, sharply declined when the terrific left-hander came out of the bullpen for the eighth inning, shot back up after Sale's postgame remarks and then dipped down again after manager Walt Weiss expressed doubt. Where is the meter now? Uncertainty remains.
Atlanta has not yet made a decision regarding Sale's status for Sunday's matchup against the Dodgers. “A lot comes down to how Chris Sale is feeling (on Sunday),” Weiss said, per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez. “This has all happened really quickly.”

If he is unable to go in Game 2 and Atlanta finds itself in a hole, people will likely hammer Weiss for bringing in the sensational southpaw with a four-run lead on Thursday. No need to jump ahead, though.
The Braves intend to take things day by day, and so should their fans. Dylan Dodd will serve as the opener in Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday. First pitch is at approximately 4 p.m. ET.
