Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac has rubbished speculation linking Jadon Sancho with a return to the Bundesliga side.
Sancho left Dortmund for Manchester United in a deal worth ã73million in 2021.
However, the English winger failed to live up to expectations following his high-profile switch to Old Trafford.
Sancho went out on loan back to Dortmund in 2024, before spells at Chelsea and then Aston Villa, but struggled for gametime and form with the Premier League pair.
The 26-year-old is now a free agent after United opted against handing the forward a new contract.
The former United man has been linked with a free switch across Europe, with AS Roma and Atletico Madrid credited with an interest.
Al-Rayyan and Arabian Falcons FC have also been monitoring Sancho's situation, but a switch has thus far failed to materialise.
Dortmund 'won't concern themselves' with Sancho
A third spell at Dortmund has also been mooted after summer signing Giannis Konstantelias suffered an ACL tear.
Head coach Kovac has played down Sancho's chances of a return to the Westfalenstadion, however.
"I think we had a really good transfer summer," Kovac said ahead of Saturday's 3-0 win over Paderborn.
"We're very well positioned. The squad is already very large.
"We have 26 outfield players, many of them young."
And on the possibility of signing Sancho, Kovac said: "Therefore, we don't need to concern ourselves with that."
Why can Sancho move outside of the transfer window?
Transfer windows across the world may have closed earlier this month, with the Brazilian window the recent to slam shut.
However, Sancho is still free to move should he find a new club in the coming weeks or months.
That's because he is one of a number of players who are not under an active contract tying them to a specific club.
Sancho, who was training with 10th-tier side Flixton last month, isn't the only high-profile free agent on the market.
The likes of Yves Bissouma, Karim Benzema and Dani Carvajal are among those without a club at present.
