Week 8 of the NFL will conclude with a banger; it’s the Chicago Bears (5-2) going to Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks (4-3)! Caleb Williams and Sam Darnold headline this matchup as both quarterbacks are coming off impressive performances and big wins in primetime. Chicago will have a rest advantage after beating New England 30-24 on Thursday Night Football as -3 point favorites, whereas Seattle beat the Chiefs 20-3 on Sunday Night Football.

Chicago is running hot with a 4-1 record over the last five games and a 3-1 mark when Caleb Williams has started. In his three games, 100-percent healthy, Chicago scored 30, 31, and 59 points, and he has seven total touchdowns to zero interceptions. The Bears defense has stepped up on the two biggest downs. Chicago held its last two opponents to 5-of-19 on third downs and 0-for-4 on fourth downs.

Despite struggling with stopping the run, Chicago held New England and Atlanta to a combined 29 rushing attempts for 133 yards (4.5 ypc) and one touchdown. Seattle is expected to have Zach Charbonnet back from injury, so the Seahawks’ running game will see a boost.

Seattle got its revenge on Kenneth Walker as the defense bottled up the former Seahawk. Walker had a season-low 36 rushing yards after having the most rushing yards through five games in NFL history. Seattle didn’t even allow a red zone trip to Kansas City on Sunday Night Football and held Patrick Mahomes to a season-low 165 passing yards.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba recorded 150 receiving yards, the sixth time in seven games he eclipsed 100 yards and the second time this season with 150-plus. Smith leads the league in receiving yards (867) and touchdowns (8), plus is second in receptions (58). Seattle’s win over Kansas City broke a two-game losing streak and made it the third consecutive week playing on primetime. Seattle lost to Denver 17-14 in OT on Thursday Night Football before beating Kansas City on Sunday Night Football.

Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.

Expert picks & predictions for Bears at Seahawks

Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports) leans Sam Darnold to go Over his longest completion prop:

“Chicago has had a problem stopping big plays. The Bears have the second-worst explosive play rate on defense (7.4%) and has been a goldmine for 30 and 40-plus plays through the air. Going back to Week 1, Bryce Young (51), Geno Smith (58), Jordan Love (53), Michael Penix (41), and Drake Maye (48) all completed passes for at least 40 yards. The only quarterbacks that went under that were Carson Wentz (30) and Jalen Hurts (30), which make sense. Four-straight quarterbacks have completed a pass of at least 41 yards on Chicago’s defense and I think it could happen again. Rashid Sheehan is questionable and if he plays, that’s another threat outside of Jaxon Smith-Njigba that can make an explosive play in the pass game. Tory Holton also has burners and could be a sneaky fantasy streaming and touchdown option if Shaheed is out.”

Quarterback matchup for Beas at Seahawks

· Chicago: Caleb Williams – In the past two games since returning, Caleb Williams posted 305 yards and a touchdown, then 307 yards and two touchdowns. Williams hasn’t turned the ball over in that stretch. Williams has an NFL-best 79.6 QBR and the best true completion percentage (83.5%). Under pressure, Williams is completing 73.7% of his passes and has an 83.6% catchable ball rate when he has a clean pocket, both ranking first. There is very little to nitpick about Williams, as Chicago has scored 30-plus points in his three full starts this season.

· Seattle: Sam Darnold – Sam Darnold is coming off arguably his best game of the season. He completed a season-high 71.4% of his passes (20/28) and the third-most yards (257). For the second time all year, he wasn’t sacked, which has been a theme this year. Darnold was sacked 13 times against the Chargers, 49ers, and Broncos leading up to the win over the Chiefs. Darnold ranks 32nd in pressured completion percentage (38.9%) and 27th in true completion percentage (67.7%). Chicago ranks sixth-highest with a 39.6% pressure rate from its defensive line. The running game having its struggles has impacted Darnold and put more heat on him. The one area that hasn’t mattered has been the red zone. Darnold is carving up opponents with the chance to score. He has a 64.7% red zone completion percentage (5th) and 89.5% catchable red zone rate (1st) on 17 red zone passes (24th-most). Chicago allows the second-highest explosive play rate (7.4%), so Seattle could find itself in the red zone a few times against Chicago.
