The Dallas Wings suffered a major blow last month when it was revealed that star rookie Azzi Fudd would miss the remainder of the season due to injury. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft was in the midst of an All-Rookie caliber year after shaking off a slow start.

Although Azzi Fudd’s rookie season didn’t end the way she may have envisioned it, the Wings’ guard is still proud of the way she managed to respond to everything throughout the entire year, as per Myah Taylor of The Dallas Morning News.

“I think your rookie season is a lot. It’s a lot all at once. Once I went home and I could take that deep breath, I was like, ‘wow.’ I think how I handled everything,” Fudd said. “Obviously there’s things I think I could have done better … any elite athlete is going to think that, be able to critique themselves. But I think I’m proud of how I handled it, how I adjusted.

Fudd appeared in 30 games as a rookie, including 24 starts, at a little over 31 minutes per game. She averaged 13.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals with splits of 45.6 percent shooting from the field, 39.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 82.6 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

The former UConn star was fourth among rookies in scoring and first in 3-point percentage among rookies who have taken 100 or more 3-point attempts this season. Fudd won the 3-Point Contest during WNBA All-Star Weekend.
