The Houston Astros were sent packing early after getting swept by the Chicago White Sox in their wild-card series in the playoffs on Wednesday. The Astros bowed to the White Sox, 7-3, in Game 2 at Daikin Park.

Jose Altuve fought back tears in the locker room after their defeat. The Astros were favored to advance to the ALDS, but they played below par against the White Sox.

In a video posted by Space City Home Network, Altuve admitted his dejection.

“It's sad because I've seen these guys work really hard and overcome adversities. They never gave up. Obviously, it's a sad day for us. We wanted to get into the (next round of the) playoffs, but I guess they (White Sox) played better,” said the two-time champion.

Still, the 36-year-old hitter, who recorded his 28th home run in the playoffs, remained defiant.

“We're gonna find a way to come back and get back into the playoffs and win. That's all I've got to say,” added Altuve.

He blasted his first dinger in the playoffs since Game 7 of the ALCS against the Texas Rangers in 2023.

Altuve is just one home run away from tying the postseason record of Manny Ramirez. But that will have to wait until next year.

Understandably, the nine-time All-Star was not in a talkative mood after their exit, acknowledging that he was still wrapping his head around it.

“I'm still thinking about the game. It's hard to forget about today's game because it was the game that eliminated us, so I'm still thinking about that, and then I'll think about the rest,” said Altuve.
