If NBA star Anthony Edwards is going to pay child support to his ex, Alexandria Desroches, he doesn't want the money being used for sports gambling.
TMZ reported court documents from Edwards, which alleged that his ex used DraftKings to gamble “on dozens of occasions” in 2025 while she argued that the payments he was making were inadequate. Additionally, he alleges that she has omitted income and overstated expenses related to their child.
Edwards was ordered to pay $14,000 a month in child support, but he fears that Desroches will use it to gamble. In turn, he would like some of the money to be placed in a trust and that a trustee would be in charge of distributing it.
Desroches didn't appreciate his requests. She claimed that he hasn't sought to spend time or send gifts to their child. She also refuted his claims about her gambling, claiming that her wagers, which were “placed out of boredom,” were for about $10. In 2025, she only spent $998.20 on DraftKings, which her records prove.
Edwards and Desroches' son, Amir, was born in 2023. The Minnesota Timberwolves star was also recently involved in a court case with another partner, Ayesha Howard. They had a daughter together.
The latest development in Edwards and Desroches' case comes as the Timberwolves start their season hot. They are 3-1 and in second place in the Northwest Division.
Currently, Edwards is second in points per game, averaging 33.3 points per contest. He is also averaging 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. If he can keep his pace up, this will be the first time he has averaged over 30 points per game in a season.
The Timberwolves added LaMelo Ball, another top scorer, in the offseason. So far, he and Edwards have gelled nicely. Ball is averaging 14.8 points per game through four contests. Jaden McDaniels also averages 15 per game.
