Tyler Wade is closing his baseball career with gratitude for the sport and the people who shared it with him. The former Angels utility player, also known for his past relationship with Alix Earle, announced his retirement at 31.
In a Monday afternoon post on X, Wade wrote that “it’s time to move on” after nine seasons and 506 appearances in MLB, the NY Post reports.
“Thank you, baseball,” he wrote. “You gave me more than I could have ever dreamed of.”
His announcement recognized every organization he represented, along with the coaches, support personnel, trainers, and fans who contributed to his journey. He saved his final acknowledgment for the players who experienced the daily demands of baseball alongside him.
“And lastly,” Wade wrote, “to my teammates: I’m going to miss the grind, the clubhouse, the competition, and being in the jungle every day with the guys.”

Tyler Wade’s career and connection to Alix Earle
The Yankees selected Wade in round four of the 2013 draft. He reached the majors with New York four years later and remained with the franchise through 2021, when a trade sent him to Los Angeles.
His subsequent stops included Oakland and San Diego. This season, he pursued a spot with Texas before ultimately announcing his decision to retire.
Wade also drew attention beyond baseball through his romance with Earle. Their relationship lasted several months during 2022 before they separated.
On her “Hot Mess” podcast in 2023, Earle attributed the breakup to Wade’s concerns about her growing presence on social media.
That relationship formed one part of Wade’s public profile. His farewell, however, centered on baseball, the organizations that gave him opportunities, and the teammates whose company he will miss.
