Nate Oats provided valuable injury updates on Alabama Crimson Tide standouts Jaxon Richardson and Anderson Diaz ahead of the start of the 2026-27 season.

Oats has been a college basketball head coach since 2015, going through his eighth season with the Crimson Tide. He shines as one of the best coaches in the country, having led Alabama to its first Final Four in 2024. They often make solid runs in the NCAA Tournament, seeking their seventh straight appearance this season.

Oats spoke with media ahead of the Crimson Tide's season opener next week in November, per insider Jon Rothstein. He noted Richardson and Diaz as key players in the rotation, revealing a minutes restriction and a questionable injury status for both players.

“Alabama's Jaxon Richardson will likely remain on a minutes restriction for Tuesday's opener against Sam Houston, per Nate Oats. Played 10 minutes in the exhibition game against Auburn. Anderson Diaz (elbow) is doubtful for the opener against Sam Houston,” Rothstein wrote.
