The No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide is scheduled to face off against the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday in a highly anticipated Week 3 matchup. However, running back AK Dear is currently dealing with an injury. The latest injury update reveals Dear's official status for the contest on Friday.

Reports indicate that the redshirt freshman is deemed questionable for the game against the Seminoles, according to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. Dear has yet to make his 2026-27 season debut, as he is still recovering from an ankle injury he suffered during the preseason.

“Alabama running back AK Dear is questionable for Saturday’s rematch with Florida State, sources tell On3,” Nakos said. “He continues to recover from a preseason ankle injury.”

The Crimson Tide will rely on Daniel Hill in the backfield in Week 3. True freshman Trae'shawn Brown is listed as the immediate backup for now. However, whenever AK Dear does finally return from the ankle injury, he should be given a chance to work as the backup option in Alabama.

Dear appeared in five games last season as a true freshman. He only had 19 attempts, but flashed major potential with limited opportunities. He finished last season with 140 yards and three touchdowns, giving him an impressive average of 7.4 yards per attempt.

While the Mississippi native continues to progress through his injury, Alabama will have a chance to earn its third win on the season. The Crimson Tide has looked solid so far this year, with blow out wins over the East Carolina Pirates and Kentucky Wildcats.
