Regardless of what happens with the Chicago Cubs, Pete Crow-Armstrong had a historic season.
While his numbers tell the story, additional numbers say even more, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com and Jon Heyman of The New York Post.
According to Langs, Crow-Armstrong is in the 100th percentile in batting and fielding run value. He is also in the 99th percentile in run value. He's also in the 95th percentile or better in batting, baserunning, and field run value.
A stat that was first tracked in 2016. The only other players who meet those moments are Mookie Betts in 2019 and Bobby Witt Jr. in 2024.
As a result, Heyman put it on blast: “PCA: One of the greatest seasons ever. In some ways the greatest!”
At this point, there is no doubt that Crow-Armstrong is going to win MVP. Not only that, but Crow-Armstrong just joined the 40/40 club. An exclusive fraternity that features the likes of Jose Conseco, Barry Bonds, and Shohei Ohtani.
Presently, PCA is batting .280 with 174 hits, 45 home runs, 40 stolen bases, and 107 RBIs. The Cubs have also clinched a playoff spot, as they close out the regular season against the Boston Red Sox this weekend.
The Cubs acquired Crow-Armstrong in 2021 in exchange for Javier Biaz, who went to the New York Mets. In 2023, he made his debut with Chicago and played in 13 games late in the season. The following year, he played in 123 games and hit 10 home runs.
Last year, Crow-Armstrong played full-time in center field, earned an All-Star selection, hit 31 home runs, and won an NL Gold Glove Award.
