The New York Yankees will play the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card series on Tuesday. Reports say Aaron Judge will miss the series due to a recent calf strain. Additionally, Judge was left off the roster.

However, Judge was in the field throwing before the game at Yankee Stadium, per The New York Post Sports. Despite that, Judge will not be in the lineup on Tuesday.

On Monday, Judge took part in batting practice with some productive results, but it didn't change his status.

Throughout the season, Judge endured injuries. Beginning in April, he was out for three months with a rib stress fracture. In early September, Judge returned briefly in a series against the Colorado Rockies. Then, he went down with a calf strain.

Altogether, Judge batted .241 with 57 hits, 45 runs, 18 home runs, and 41 RBIs. Additionally, he played in 66 games this year.

The Yankees made the playoffs for the 9th time in 10 years. They finished 2nd in the AL East Division with a 93-68 record. The Yankees are the No. 4 seed in the AL Wild Card bracket. They are facing Boston in a rematch of last year's AL Wild Card series, which they won. The difference is that they had a healthy Judge, which in part helped them beat their long-time rival.

Ultimately, the Yankees fell to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS in four games.

If the Yankees defeat the Red Sox again, Judge may return for the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays.
