The undefeated San Francisco 49ers (5-0) host the Washington Commanders (1-3-1) on Monday Night Football as -7.5 point favorites. The Commanders are coming off 27-27 tie versus the Giants whereas the 49ers beat the Seahawks 32-29.
The 49ers and Seahawks combined for seven turnovers last week with the 49ers committing three of them. San Francisco is one of three teams that remain undefeated (Chiefs, Vikings) and have an NFL-best +61 point differential. Brock Purdy is collecting MVP hype as he always does in Brocktober and he’ll have a soft matchup at home.
Washington’s pass defense could be in for a long day. The Commanders gave up 326 passing yards to Jameis Winston and three touchdowns last week and struggled to stop the run in London the week prior as Jonathan Taylor ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns. The 49ers will be without Deebo Samuel (hamstring) and listed Mike Evans (ribs) and Lucas Patrick (illness) as questionable ahead of this game. Perhaps that slows down the 49ers attack, and if we’re being honest, the Commanders need any help they can get as Washington is looking like a prime candidate for a top five pick.
Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.
