The Los Angeles Chargers continue to sink further in the 2026 season. Now the Kansas City Chiefs dropped them to 0-6 following the 22-6 loss at Arrowhead Stadium. But Tony Jefferson dropped a defiant take.

The safety doesn't believe his team is dead in the water yet.

“Until they say we're dead, we're alive. So we're just gonna keep fighting,” Jefferson said to reporters. “Nobody's going to lay down or quit.”

The Chargers and coach Jim Harbaugh will love that kind of confidence from one of their veteran leaders. But the Chargers are teetering towards finishing with their worst mark since the 2000 season.

That Bolts team ended up going 1-15, and that was the last time LAC started 0-6. So this is the first worst start in the Harbaugh regime.

Many point to Harbaugh not meshing with offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel as a big reason behind the slow start. Granted, Harbaugh has denied in the past that he wouldn't take away the play-calling duties from McDaniel. Harbaugh's postgame words, though, paint a different picture.

“We have to address everything guys and especially offensively. We’re not scoring enough points,” Harbaugh said to reporters afterward. “We’re going to look at everything. The job I'm doing, it starts with me. The plan is we’ll watch this and get with our offensive coaches. … [Offense] Needs to be addressed.”

So that paints the picture that Harbaugh and McDaniel may need to pivot to another direction offensively. Meanwhile on defense, Jefferson tallied five tackles and finished third there. But LAC allowed 422 total yards.
