The 49ers signed defensive end Matt Judon on Monday, because of their injuries at the position. But they could see the return of one of their big names in the not-too-distant future.
The 49ers plan to open the practice window for defensive end Mykel Williams on Wednesday, coach Kyle Shanahan said.
Williams started the season on the active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list. That required him to miss at least the first four games of the season.
He will now need some ramp-up time before making it back to game action.
Williams, a first-round pick in 2025, tore the ACL and lateral meniscus in his right knee during a Nov. 2 game against the Giants.
