The San Francisco 49ers are currently gearing up for Monday night's home game against the Washington Commanders in prime time. The 49ers have gotten off to a hot start to the season, sitting as one of the last remaining undefeated teams at 5-0 entering this matchup.

Coming into this game, there was some speculation about the injury status of veteran star wide receiver Mike Evans, but now, the team has gotten a positive update on that front.

“My guess is we will see Mike Evans tonight.. They want to see how he looks pregame but the 49ers are optimistic,” said NFL insider Ian Rapoport during an appearance on ESPN's The Pat McAfee Show, via Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.

Evans is coming off a monster game against the Seattle Seahawks last weekend, consistently providing a security blanket for quarterback Brock Purdy and finding seams in Seattle's vaunted secondary.

While the Commanders seemingly present less of a challenge, the 49ers are still a veteran enough group to know not to let their guard down, regardless of the opponent.

The 49ers signed Evans away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency this past offseason, and despite his relatively advanced age, it's looked like a grand slam of an acquisition so far, and the fact that Evans is looking optimistic to play on Monday is certainly a good sign about the long-term outlook of his injury situation.

In any case, the Seahawks and Commanders are slated to kick things off at 8:15 pm ET.
