Fans of the San Francisco 49ers can breathe a little easier after the team issued a positive update on fullback Kyle Juszczyk, who suffered a knee injury against the Denver Broncos at Levi's Stadium on Sunday.
It happened with 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter, when Juszczyk caught a short pass from quarterback Brock Purdy and ran for 16 yards before taking a low hit from cornerback Jahdae Barron. Juszczyk landed on his back and remained on the ground at Levi's Stadium. He was helped off the field and was ruled out for the rest of the game.
The 49ers beat the Broncos, 24-14, and improved to 4-0.
After the win, coach Kyle Shanahan gave an encouraging update about the 35-year-old star.
“Kyle Shanahan says the initial belief is that FB Kyle Juszczyk has a knee sprain, and that the ACL is intact. There are more tests to run tomorrow,” wrote 49ers podcaster Rob Lowder.

Despite his exit, the 49ers had no problem closing out the Broncos, who fell to 2-2. Purdy went 19-of-30 for 218 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 10 carries for 29 yards.
“We wanted to break through whatever that was and just be ourselves. I'm glad we could get some momentum going in the second half. That's why it's a four-quarter game,” said Purdy in a report from the Associated Press' Josh Dubow.
San Francisco was ailing after the contest, as it also lost safety Marques Sigle and cornerback Upton Stout to an ankle injury and a shoulder injury, respectively.
