The San Francisco 49ers handled business against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, defeating them 27-7 in Australia. The big news coming out of the game was how prepared the 49ers were, flying into Melbourne a week before the game, while the Rams flew in a day before and looked out of sorts on the field.

Days later, things didn't get any better for the Rams as they placed Myles Garrett on injured reserve after dealing with lower leg pain during the game. Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard had a lot to say about the Rams, and he thinks they were actually punting the game the entire time.

“I think the Rams mostly just punted this game. There is no other rational conclusion for flying in a day before an Australia game. They obviously didn't tip off their media fans on this, though. Oops,” Kawakami wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

A user responded to his tweet, saying that he was surprised the Rams weren't prepared, especially since it was a divisional game.

“I suspect the Rams were mad about the trip, decided to screw with the 49ers by pulling them into it, too — which I respect! — then over-explained it 30 different ways. Still might work out fine for the Rams. But their Media Friends thought it was genius even for this game,” Kawakami wrote.

Kawakami then talked about Garrett's injury, saying that he's not sure why the defensive end played in Week 1 had to be on two long flights.

“Told [Dylan Hernandez] on the podcast yesterday that if I worked in LA, my column would've been: What were the Rams doing playing Myles Garrett in a game they were clearly punting and involved two 15-hour flights???? Quadruple out-smarted themselves,” Kawakami wrote.

Kawakami is not a Rams fan, but he probably sounds like almost every one of them at this moment.
