The San Francisco 49ers announced additional roster moves Tuesday after reacquiring three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Indianapolis Colts ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

San Francisco signed defensive lineman Kevin Givens to its practice squad and released wide receiver Malik Turner from the practice squad as the organization continued adjusting its roster following the blockbuster trade.

The 49ers confirmed the transactions Tuesday via X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The #49ers today announced they have signed DL Kevin Givens to the team’s practice squad and released WR Malik Turner from the practice squad.”

The moves came hours after San Francisco acquired Buckner from Indianapolis in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round draft pick, bringing the veteran defensive tackle back to the organization that selected him seventh overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Buckner spent his first four NFL seasons with San Francisco before the 49ers traded him to Indianapolis in 2020 for a first-round selection.

The 32-year-old now returns to a familiar defensive system as San Francisco looks to strengthen its defensive front heading into the second half of the season.

San Francisco's latest roster adjustments follow Sunday's disappointing 29-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7.

The defeat ended the 49ers' undefeated start and dropped them to 6-1, although they remain among the NFC's top contenders.

Adding Buckner provides San Francisco with an experienced interior defensive lineman as the team attempts to regain momentum following its first setback.

The 49ers will have a bye in Week 8 before returning home to host the Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) in Week 9 on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1:25 p.m. PT on Fox.
