Defensive end Montez Sweat’s two-game suspension ended after last Thursday’s win over the Patriots and he addressed his absence from the team’s facility on Tuesday.

Sweat said “it was a surprise” to learn that he was being suspended for violating the performance-enhancing drug policy, but did not delve into the details of what happened beyond taking “full responsibility” for his actions.

“It’s definitely something I got to live with for my career,” Sweat said, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com. “I never want to cheat the game, and I would never do it intentionally, but what happened, happened and I’m moving forward.”

Sweat said he was “devastated” to miss time and that it was tough to look head coach Ben Johnson “in the eye after you’ve done something detrimental like that to the team,” but reiterated his desire to move forward from the ban. He had two sacks in the first five games and adding to that total will make it easier for everyone in Chicago to move past his absence.
