The Indiana Fever remained in the hunt for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs after blowing out the Minnesota Lynx, 96-77, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
Once again, Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston led the charge. The Fever had a fiery start, outscoring the Lynx, 31-16, in the first quarter. They never took their foot off the gas and ran away with the 19-point victory.
The Fever improved to 28-15. They are currently in fifth place in the team standings. They will close out the regular season with a rematch against the Lynx at Target Center on Thursday.
The game is a must-win for Indiana to secure the No. 4 seed. A loss could drop Indiana to the No. 6 seed and face either the Golden State Valkyries, the Las Vegas Aces, or the Atlanta Dream in the opening round of the playoffs.
Article Continues BelowESPN's Kareem Copeland noted in his report: “Indiana will, at worst, be a No. 6 seed in the playoffs. A win by the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night capped the Fever at No. 4, at best.”
Clark had 27 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and four steals, while Mitchell reached 20 points for the 27th straight game, extending her league record. Boston chipped in 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
“We're scary when we're clicking. Like we're the best offensive team in the league, and we've shown moments where we can be really good defensively,” said Clark in Copeland's report.
The Fever qualified for the playoffs for the third straight season.
