The Los Angeles Chargers have done everything wrong to start the 2026 NFL season. LA is 0-2 after two weeks and has looked absolutely dreadful on both sides of the football. One NFL insider is already at the point of giving up on the Chargers and it is still September.
ESPN's Dan Graziano is not very happy with Los Angeles after their disappointing start to the season. He is now done being “fooled” by Justin Herbert and the Chargers.
“The Chargers have fooled me for the last time,” Graziano declared on Wednesday. “What a horrendously disappointing first two weeks for one of the teams we were most excited about entering the season. The Mike McDaniel/Justin Herbert pairing has not clicked at all — quite the opposite, in fact. Everything looks difficult and exhausting for the Chargers' offense. And now the schedule is about to become brutal and injuries are setting in.”
LA has struggled in multiple phases, including both the offense and the defense. The Chargers' secondary has been an especially big problem, surrendering 262.5 passing yards per game (29th in the NFL).
Head coach Jim Harbaugh has taken the blame for letting Herbert down so far this season. But Harbaugh will need a lot more than accountability to turn this ship around.
“Do I believe Jim Harbaugh can turn this around and steer this team into the playoffs? Yes. He's that level of coach. But I'm not predicting it, and it's going to be a long time before I feel good predicting high-level success for the Chargers again,” Graziano added. “If this season doesn't turn around, I think we're at the point where it's worth having a real conversation about whether Herbert will ever really be the high-level quarterback his talent says he should.”
Unfortunately, LA's schedule does not get any easier over the next several weeks. It is now or never for the Chargers to start turning things around.
