The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to finish the season strong against the Tampa Bay Rays. If all goes well, they will secure the final National League Wild Card spot.

However, they risk losing that spot to the Arizona Diamondbacks, per ESPN. Currently, the Phillies are 87-73 and the Diamondbacks trail by a game at 86-74. A major reason why Philadelphia is at a greater risk is that they are on a three-game losing streak.

They lost the last two games of their three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. On Friday, the Phillies lost to the Rays 2-0.

Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are on a six-game winning streak dating back to Sept. 19. Then, they swept the Colorado Rockies in three games. Now, the Diamondbacks won their first game against the Padres on Friday, 11-4.

At this point, the situation could go two ways for Arizona. If the Diamondbacks win their last two games and the Phillies go 1-1, they will secure the final spot. The same holds if they split the last two games and the Phillies go 0-2.

The Phillies face added vulnerabilities at the end of the regular season. One of their top infielders, Luis Arraez, is battling a recent ankle injury. At the same time, the Phillies are perceived as not an okay team even if they make the playoffs.

The Phillies are looking to cap off a season in which they overcame a sluggish start, a change of managers, and a second-half surge to make it back to October.

The second game against the Rays begins at 6:15 pm CST/7:15 pm EST on Saturday.
