The St. Louis Cardinals are wrapping up their season, following an up-and-down campaign. St. Louis will end up missing the Major League Baseball Playoffs, but has found a star in young slugger Jordan Walker. Walker has posted an impressive feat with his career home run numbers.
“Jordan Walker now has 56 career home runs off 56 different pitchers. That’s the second-longest streak of home runs off different pitchers to start a career, behind only: Willy Adames: 1st 57,” MLB reporter Sarah Langs posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Walker blasted a home run on Friday, in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers. St. Louis would lose to the Brewers, 8-4. Walker hit a solo homer for the Cardinals.
On the season, Walker now has 29 home runs. He has 101 RBIs on the campaign for St. Louis. The outfielder also has 21 stolen bases, while batting at a .271 average.
Article Continues BelowWalker is proving to be a solid compliment to Cardinals slugger Alec Burleson. The team will likely lean on them for offense in the years to come.
“Walker and Burleson became the first Cardinals duo to have 100-plus RBIs in the same season since Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado in 2022. They complement each other extremely well, as entering Friday, Burleson had a .924 OPS against right-handed pitching and Walker posted a .885 OPS against lefties. Both players had a .905 OPS or higher with runners in scoring position as well, showing they are the ideal players to have up in the biggest spots of a game,” MLB.com reported.
St. Louis is now 77-83 on the season. The RedBirds are fourth in the National League Central. The Cardinals are in action on Saturday against the Brewers.
St. Louis has now lost seven of their last 10 games.
