Anthony Martial stretchered off after dislocating shoulder as club gives statement
Former Manchester United man Anthony Martial had to be stretchered off after dislocating his shoulder playing for Monterrey.
The French forward, who moved to the Mexican side from AEK Athens in September, was forced off on the stroke of half time in the 1-0 win at home to Club Leon.

Martial has struggled for form during his time with the Liga MX side having scored just once in 19 outings.
And the 30-year-old is unlikely to add to the haul anytime soon after suffering a serious injury on Sunday.
“Club de Futbol Monterrey reports that player Anthony Martial suffered a dislocated right shoulder during the Matchday 6 game against Leon at BBVA Stadium,” the club said in a statement over the weekend.
“Anthony’s recovery prognosis is subject to change.”
Monterrey are yet to disclose the severity of the should dislocation.
However, if surgery is required, then Martial could be sidelined for three to six months.
The ex-Monaco man, then, will be hoping he can avoid going under the knife, in which case he’ll be out for around 4-6 weeks.
Martial’s memorable Man Utd switch
Martial famously moved to Manchester United in 2015 for £36million, which at the time was the highest fee paid for a teenager.
And despite scoring on his debut, the third in a 3-1 win over rivals Liverpool, the French forward struggled to realise his full potential during his time at Old Trafford.

Martial endured a forgettable spell with LaLiga season with Sevilla in 2022 before departing for AEK Athens in 2024, where he spent a season before his switch to Monterrey.
During his time in Greece, Martial scoring seven times in 16 league outings.
Monterrey’s recruitment drive
Martial isn’t the only high-profile player to have made the move to Monterrey in recent times.
Sergio Ramos joined the Mexican side last January, though the experienced Spaniard has since left the Liga MX side.
Former Real Madrid man Sergio Canales moved to the club in 2023 from Real Betis, while Martial reunited with brief Sevilla teammate Lucas Ocampos following his switch to Monterrey, the Argentine having completed his transfer to Mexico in 2024.
Oliver Torres, like Ocampos, also swapped Sevilla for Monterrey in 2024.

Sunday’s 1-0 win over Leon saw them Monterrey move up to sixth in the Clausura as they ended a two-game winless run in the process.
