Old Park Star is the big favourite for the opening race of the first day at Cheltenham Festival.

He’s been touted as a bit of a star in the making with a fair bit of hope behind him.

It’s a tough race, with plenty of runners who could take up the running but Old Park Star looks the part already.

Lulamba had been the big favourite for the Arkle for some time now even early on in the ante-post markets.

The Nicky Henderson-trained horse has won three times over fences at just five-years-old and that’s despite facing some already well established top-rated chasers so in novice company he’s got the vital experience to win today.

Brazil said the Champion Hurdle is: “I think it’s wide open.

“There’s Lossiemouth, The New Lion, Brighterdaysahead from Gordon Elliott. I’m going for the English horse, The New Lion.”

It’s a wide open contest, just as it was last year where it was probably the most dramatic renewal.

Constitution Hill fell fairly early on and it looked like it was all State Man to win, before he dramatically fell at the final hurdle, hindering Brigtherdaysahead in the process and leaving Golden Ace who was a huge price to win the feature race.
