Alan Brazil reveals when he plans to make talkSPORT return as he speaks candidly on life-saving operation

Iconic talkSPORT host Alan Brazil plans to be back on the airwaves in a matter of weeks following a life-saving operation.

Big Al confirmed the news in a video shared on his Instagram on Sunday, where he looked well and rested during the heatwave.

Brazil’s almost back!

“Hiya guys, how are you,” he said.

“What a day, beautiful weekend. Hopefully you’re lying in the sun and enjoying yourself.

“Well, as you can see, I’m beginning to improve rapidly, which is great news.

“I was nearly gone, I don’t mind telling you. But listen, it’s a miracle what’s happened. NHS, brilliant. I can’t thank the people at Cambridge enough. They’ve saved my life. But I’m on the mend, you bet.

“I’m missing radio, I will be back. We’re going to have a beautiful day tomorrow in the sunshine here in Suffolk.

“It won’t be long now, a few weeks, Brazil is back!

“Thank you for all the messages, I really appreciate it, and I’m a lucky boy.”

Several of Brazil’s fellow talkSPORT presenters and other iconic figures in the sporting world commented their well wishes.

Shebahn Aherne wrote: “Looking like a 10 to be fair.”

Charlie Baker said: “Looking great Alan. Good health mate.”

Drive co-host Andy Goldstein commented: “Looking great sunshine xx. Great to see u (sic) on the mend.”

Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan added: “Brilliant news.”

Brazil’s latest update is welcome news for all the talkSPORT listeners who have missed his dulcet tones on The Sports Breakfast.

The 66-year-old has hosted the show for more than 25 years and, quite simply, it’s not the same without his cheerful presence.

Why has Brazil been off the airwaves recently?

Brazil has been forced to step away from the mic on the Sports Breakfast for a number of weeks due to health issues.

He later confirmed he had undergone a ‘life-saving operation’ in a statement read out by Jeff Stelling on air.

After providing listeners with an update, Stelling and co-host Gabby Agbonblahor wished the big man well.

“Great to hear from Big Al on the news there,” Stelling said.

Agbonlahor added: “Great news. I can’t wait for him to get back.”
