'Ajit Agarkar Should Be Given 10/10' - Legendary spinner rates India's T20 World Cup squad
While Harbhajan Singh said he was disappointed not to see Shubman Gill in India's T20 World Cup 2026 squad, he gave full marks to the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee for the players they picked.
Harbhajan said that all the players in the squad are match winners, and the former India spinner backed the Men in Blue to become the first team to win consecutive T20 World Cup titles.
"The team is really good. I had told that Ajit should be given 10/10 for the team. I felt a little bad for Shubman, but he will get more chances soon. All the players are match winners in their own right. Hope we can win back-to-back World Cups because we have that team," Harbhajan Singh was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
Harbhajan Singh backs Suryakumar Yadav to regain form during T20 World Cup
India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav had a disappointing run with the bat in 2025. In 19 T20I innings, he finished with a paltry average of 13.62 and failed to register a half-century. However, Harbhajan expressed his confidence in the Mumbai batter and said that he will come out all guns blazing during the T20 World Cup. The cricketer-turned-expert also praised Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah.
"Suryakumar has not made many runs, but when the WC comes, we will need big players to fire. He will shine bright in that big match. Abhishek (Sharma) can win you matches on your own. The form Hardik (Pandya) is in, he is a key player. We also have Arshdeep (Singh) and (Jasprit) Bumrah in pace," Harbhajan said.
The Asian giants are placed in Group A in the T20 World Cup, alongside the USA, Namibia, Pakistan, and the Netherlands. They will begin their campaign on February 7 with a clash against the USA at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, before the T20 World Cup, the Indian team will play three ODIs and five T20Is against New Zealand.
