Despite the recent struggles in college football, speculation about his potential return to the NFL continues to swirl. NFL analyst Adam Schefter addressed the mounting rumors about a possible Belichick return to professional coaching. The chatter has intensified following recent reports suggesting significant interest from multiple franchises.

“I don’t know how real it is or isn’t, and I don’t know how interested he is or isn’t in going to the NFL. I think, it’s a lot of noise, more than it is anything else, right now.” Schefter said on WEEI.

NFL insider Josina Anderson indicated at least two teams are actively considering Belichick, with a third potentially entering the conversation if they make personnel changes. Anderson suggested his move to college wasn’t solely about the opportunity but also reflected his preferences regarding workplace environment.

The Tennessee Titans and New York Giants have immediate openings after the firings of Brian Callahan and the departure of Brian Daboll, respectively. The Titans are winless under interim coach Mike McCoy.

Additional vacancies could emerge after the season, potentially including the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals would represent an attractive option given their established offensive core of quarterback Joe Burrow and receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

For now, Belichick remains committed to his North Carolina program. The New England Patriots, meanwhile, show no indication of interest as Mike Vrabel’s squad leads the AFC East at 10-2.
