‘Absolutely rank’ – Gary Anderson goes on bizarre expletive rant about influencers in darts
Gary Anderson made his opposition to influencers in darts very clear during an unexpected expletive-filled rant at the World Masters.
The two-time world champion beat Niels Zonneveld 3-2 in their first round match at Arena MK on Thursday evening.

As is customary after darts matches, winner Anderson was met by the media and asked about his performance at the oche.
However, he took the opportunity to vent his apparent frustrations with social media influencers getting involved in the sport.
It’s not clear who Anderson was referring to, but he has taken issue with the impact they have on the younger generation of fans.
Anderson rants about darts influencers
“I don’t [do] YouTube, but I’m watching… what do you call them? Influencers. ‘How to play darts’, I’ve never seen the bloke in my life,” Anderson said.
“I’ve watched him play darts, he’s absolutely rank at it, so why watch him?
“Kids need to learn they can go buy a set of darts that cost you ten, 20, 30, 40, 50 quid, instead of spending hundreds of pounds on darts, and play the game.”
Anderson then stuck two fingers up when referring to influencers, and added: “What a load of b*******, absolute t******.”
“It’s the truth though!” he continued. “How many times do you watch boys on YouTube, ‘Play like a pro’?
“Who is he? They’re actually pros, and they actually know about darts, do they?”
Anderson finished his rant by reiterating that younger fans do not need to spend huge amounts of money on darts to enjoy the sport.

“You know who I’m talking about, it’s a load of rubbish. So for young kids, it ain’t good.
“Just let them play darts and enjoy it. Buy a £20 set of darts, and go and enjoy your game of darts. End of, easy.”
Anderson is through to the second round of the World Masters and will face James Wade on Saturday.
Should he win, he will reach the third round for the first time since 2020, where he went on to make the semi-finals.
The 55-year-old has never won the World Masters but came close to lifting the title in the 2017 final when he lost to Michael van Gerwen.
