Yordan Alvarez makes Astros history with 6 run 1st inning vs. Royals

Despite all the trade rumors, the Houston Astros are very grateful to have Yordan Alvarez in their lineup. On Friday, Alvarez carved out a place for himself in history as he put on an offensive clinic against the Kansas City Royals, per Matt Kawahara of The Houston Chronicle. He became the first player in franchise history to bring in six runs in one inning.

Additionally, Alavarez capped off his excellence with a grand slam homer in the top of the first, per ClutchPoints. Thus, putting the Astros ahead 9-0.

Additionally, Alvarez became the third player in the Astors’ history to hit two home runs in an inning. The previous two were Jeff Bagwell and Lee May. May achieved it on May 29, 1974, against the Chicago Cubs. Bagwell followed suit on June 24, 1994, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Both occurred at the famed Houston Astrosdome.

LaAlvarezavarez has been putting up numbershaveat hasbelievingelieve that if the season ended today, he would win the AL MVP. He is currently batting .316 with 78 hits, 22 home runs, and 48 RBIs. Meanwhile, the Astros are 31-39 on the year, fourth place in the American League West.

The Astros have remained adament about keeping Alavrez for the long haul. Fortunatley for them, he is under contract that enables him to stick around at least until 2028. Despite a slow start to the season, Alavrez still remains hot and is considered a staple of the franchise.

The Astros have lost six out of their last ten games and are beginning a three-game series against the Royals.
