Wrexham receive huge cash injection days before January transfer window closes
Wrexham have pocketed a whopping £47.8million in a major boost before the transfer window slams shut.
The Red Dragons have enjoyed a stunning first season back in the Championship, with the club to potentially secure four consecutive promotions.

Following five wins in their last seven Championship matches, they sit in sixth spot, in the final play-off place.
And having now had a £50m cash injection, they could splash the cash for the first time this month having resisted entering the transfer market so far.
The windfall comes just one month after the Welsh side – co-owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – sold a stake in the club to Apollo Sports Capital.
Wrexham’s agreement with the American sports investment firm, who are said to be worth an eye-watering $900billion, will help the club maintain financial stability.
While funds will also be used for the redevelopment of the Racecourse Stadium, with it hoped the ground will be used as a Women’s World Cup venue in 2035 if the home nations bid is successful.
Wrex appeal
And now Wrexham have more funds to play with thanks to their timely cash boost, with football finance expert Kieran Maguire suggesting it has come from Reynolds and McElhenney, which will be used on ‘player recruitment’.
He posted on X: “Wrexham issue one share for £47.83million ($64m).
“Given that investors also paid over £7m for a share in September 2025 and that the US holding company has over 4 million shares in the club already, this suggests it’s come from the current owners and is working capital for infrastructure costs and player recruitment.”
Despite not yet signing anyone this window, Wrexham know they need to strengthen to stand a chance of promotion.
Wrexham allowed James McClean to return to Northern Ireland to join Derry City, with the winger needing to be replaced.

Free agent Jesse Lingard has been urged to join the club in what could be ‘one last rodeo’.
Meanwhile, Wrexham have been linked with a shock swoop to sign Angers striker Sidiki Cherif in a £19m club-record move.
Wrexham already broke their own record twice last summer in what turned out to be a £30m squad overhaul.
But the club’s community director, Humphrey Ke,r has told talkSPORT any move to bring in Cherif is just ‘speculation’.
Commenting on the rumour, Ker said: “We were all as excited as everybody else to read about it on the internet.
“To the best of my knowledge it’s a lot of exciting speculation.

“We’re looking at lots of different players at the moment but to say that we’ve launched a £19million bid, I’m not sure that’s 100 per cent correct.”
Boss Phil Parkinson has also had his say on the 19-year-old when speaking ahead of Wrexham’s 3-2 win at QPR last weekend.
The ex-Bradford manager remarked: “There’s lots of names we get linked with and some have got some truth and some of them haven’t.
“At this stage of the window there’s inquiries, there’s talks going on.
“Sometimes they come to fruition and sometimes they don’t, that’s all I can say on any transfer targets at the moment.
“I’m firmly concentrating on the players we’ve got.”
